Debating the End of the Ponytail

Here you may debate "The End of the Ponytail".

The ponytail is making a comeback on the red carpet. (2008) But when and why did it "leave" mainstream society? What was it replaced with? Do you agree with this illustrated story as being a possible theory to the ponytail's exit in the 1990's? The story is true to me, but I am graciously open to other explanations on how the new hairstyle, sometimes referred to today as "messy bun", was created.

Swimsuit

I have to admit that last night I went to two different malls until I found the perfect swimsuit. But it was worth it! I actually enjoyed myself. In the first mall, I continuously kept fighting the urge to just settle on a swimsuit that was "meh" or "this will do", but I can't do that anymore. Both my husband and I have this attitude now toward material things that if you're going to buy something, it'd better be something you really like and will get a lot of use out of. So that's where the second mall came into play, which was really only 15 minutes away from the first mall so I'm not too crazy. I haven't been excited about a swimsuit for years! I was so proud of myself. And why do swimsuits smell so good? Just throwing that out there.

And as the words say in my drawing above, "I wouldn't have been able to fit into this two-piece swimsuit a month ago," I am proud to say that April 2008 I lost a total of ten pounds! I have more to go and am really determined. I'm already thinking about how I could get rid of my current "wardrobe" (if you can call it that) and get all new style that is more fitting to my personality. So...I hate to say it...but the mall may be seeing more of me this summer as my clothes continue to become too big for me. And that's OK. I'm just going to explore more of my feminine side without losing the tomboy in me.

My husband and I are anxious to migrate west to the lands called Oregon. My interest for Oregon began one summer of 2003 after I returned from living in Rome and helped my parents move from Pennsylvania to California. I had been reading a book entitled, "Suburban Nation", which made me take a whole new look on the cities and towns of the United States. I started thinking where I wanted to live after college, and through my searches came upon Portland, Oregon, which was described to be a great up-and-coming city for artists. At the end of summer 2003, I had to return to Pennsylvania to complete college. Which was a good thing because right before graduating I met my now-husband Dan. We've resided in Pennsylvania ever since, and summer of 2009 is our goal to be living in Oregon. "What's so great about Oregon?" you ask. Have you BEEN to Oregon? Neither have we.

"Cable"

I feel some chicks buy items from the store they know they're going to return, just so they have an excuse to go back to the store a week later. Am I right? Well, I'm not one of those fine ladies. I have to have a good reason to step into the mall. If the Old Navy I go to was in the mall, then yes I'd go into the mall more. Yes, I buy a lot of my clothes from Old Navy. In fact, summer before my freshmen year of college I worked full-time at an Old Navy. It was my first official job. Now I work in the corporate world, but that won't be forever. Buy my book! (Does that sound desperate? Yeah.) Oh, and one more thing: the drawing above was created in August 2007. It's January 2008 and I still haven't taken the cable out of the package. Moral of my story: uh, I'll leave that to you to figure out.

"Alarm Clock"

This drawing "Alarm Clock" is definitely my favorite of the moment, though lately my husband Dan has been the one doing the slapping. Seems like there's never enough hours in the day! And, by the way, another reason why I like this drawing is because majority of my drawings are done on "the eleventh hour". It's my rule to post one new drawing per day before midnight. "Because midnight is when the ghosts come out?" you ask. No, if ghosts were a concern I'd probably have my deadline be 3:00am, because that's a scary time if you ask me...
